Allright Guys you wanna have the truth?
I dont say the following because of Personal Opinion but of Fact.
Myth1: Myth nothing over 60hz would make a difference since the Human Brain processes only 18-30 images per Second.
Myth2: it only profit if the Game has over 60FPS
Myth3: Higher hz is higher Lag
Myth4: You can Play better with 120hz
Myth5: Videos and windows itself is better.
First of all - Myth1 - Yes and NO - its true the Brain not gonna Process more images - even there are differences between People and howmany they can take per Second - maybe thats why some People may not see a very big difference.
Well in the Digital World 60FPS WOULD be enough if theres a vsync between Monitor and Brain but there isnt - the Frequenzy the Brain images and the Frequenzy the Monitor Produces the images differs all the time.
Even worse - on Digital Panels - the images dont come Frequently they change sometimes - sometimes they dont - thats why it never matterd that much on analog TV´s - but still think like black trinitron 100hz are still way better - anyone who stil knows those old tv times should know that
So the effect is now your monitor may give you 60 frames per second but because out of sync - it apears for your brain way less.
So yes its TRUE - 120hz gives you a better image
even higher - up to 200hz makes a difference - higher than 200hz will NOT defently not - 200hz are the borderline of possible sync difference between panel and human
Myth2: As already mentioned above - thats not true either - more hz - higher chance your Brain pik up the changes instantly - no matter how much fps you produce or not the effect is there - and its always a big difference
of course 120fps - with vsync - in 120hz - thats the optimum ATM
Myth3: Absolutly...NOT - The Opposit it is -
ok we want to be totally correct - there are 120hz Panels with high lag - but this is not because of the 120hz
in difference - there are true 2-3ms Panels - but only in 120hz Mode
This low latency isnt even Possible in 60hz - btw best at this time is not Dell is BENQ XL2024T(x) - while some argue that you need 120hz only for 3d - well you need 120hz for 3d minimum but you can use it well for 2D too
personally i dont like 3d at all
yth4: It depends on the Game. Most extraoridnary Example ife seen is BF3.
Here it really does make such a difference thats its astonishing.
To clarify this - every Game - specially online shooter - have various artifical delays to compensate
1. ping difference
2. fps
3. monitor lags
Wenn i dont know why - maybe because bf3 is now a console game too - for some reason it seems to be optimized for real high frequenzies - which means you really get an disadvantage with 60hz - in matter of time and lag - in other words it doenst seem to compensate much
so it makes a differenc eof 2 reasons -
first way less lag here - win around 30-60ms - which is about 10-20% of human average reaction time
but even worse - because of the game design - its way easier to see other people - specially in inf only maps - which makes oyu less tired after playing but also helps at reaction a lot
if you play this game on 60hz i can asure you (and you wont notice it) you will see people way faster - really way faster - but i cant put here a number because its hard to measure - but after some test we think its around 300ms-500ms advantage in total
and thats enormous
so how comes -
well you can make an experiment - take 2 laserpointer in a dark room - point each other at 20 cm / 7inch - put dem on and off quickly
instead of 2 blinking point you will see a line
thats whats happening at 60hz - not only the image i sless smoth - worse - the brain has to built a bridge between 2 images like it does with the laserpointer
only when you finished making that bridge - its start processing the information
for some reason the effect is in bf3 one of the biggest in that matter ife ever seen.
i think there are 2 reasons - grafics getting more complex - so its harder to analyse - but also many people play already on 120hz - if they dont the game would be even
i think on simplier games / and or older - the difference between 120hz and 60hz wouldnt be that dramatic - but serisously it is.
thats why they invented motion blure - to bad that for some people who can see higher framerates than others motion blur isnt a help - it just makes things worse
personally i got dizzy after 10min on 60hz - 4 hours of play where exhausting
allright our last one myth 5:
Yes it is - period.
try the following - make your screen a white background and use a black mouse curser.
palce it to the left - in the middle
dont look at it just look at the white board (focus on the white)
move the mouse now fast from left to the right and backwords many times
you will see the curser will disapear (if it really not dissapear than you r brain i son low FPS lol - no serisously - you really process way less frames then - maybe even a visit at a doctor might be useful no joke)
however if your eyes follow thecursor it might not dissapear but thats another story so focus on the white - thats the test
The result is - smoother scrolling - better video specially videos with much movement - even better working
And another Myth i bring up myself - 120 is healthier - simply because its less stress for your eyes and your brain.
you can work or play on a computer relaxter
Most stress is subconscious - so you might think you not gonna notice the difference but you will after 9 hours on a screen you will feel the difference defenetly.
one more thing - i was a late adopter of TFTs cause for some reson i never liked working on them even the resolution was better... well 60hz (i had a 100hz analog) is way better than tft... but were all used now to tft for a long time - some here may dont even know analog screens
we simply forgot how it should be / how it used to be
Well if you ask me - all tfts should have 120hz - alone becasuse of better health.
Believe it or not but stress induced health problem are serious and often very different causes things like
sleep problems
heart problems
concentration problems
stomache and bowel issues
up to changes of the metabolic rate
and and and.... no joke iam serious
and even surfing on a low hz monitor is already a stress factor
so 1. get a 120hz equipment
2. make regular breaks
3. get your ass frequently away from any dam screen inclusing dam smartphones
