Approximate Purchase Date: Until christmas

Budget Range: £500-£600

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming (CODs, countre strike and some others), General use (surfing,)

Parts Not Required: keyboard, mouse, Head set

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: A good and cheap UK website. (maybe aria.co.uk)

Country of Origin: UK

Parts Preferences: AMD

SLI or Crossfire: Not likely

Monitor Resolution: ?? games at mid settings

NOTE: I would like a cheap gaming rig that can play games at mid-settings.

Here is a build i pu together, considering my friend only plays countre strike (old game), CODs and few other games and dosn't mind playing them on med-settings:

Gigabyte GeForce GTX 460 OC 768MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card with HAWX2 PC-Game

Sub total: Total £558.90

I might put in this case: Antec 902, or a better PSU. I think GTX 460 would be ok for him to play games like medal of honor on med-settings.

It's currently a better buy than 1GB/256 bit GTX 460 nvm the junior 768m/192 bit version hehe

yh I have been thinking about this card but is powercolor a good brand?

Edit: Ok i have fitted a shappire hd 6850 into the build with Total cost of: £588

By the way how do you choose the best answer on this thread?
November 11, 2010 8:42:24 AM

dont know about the new video card models but powercolor is regarded as a GOOD brand

The 6850 is not worth 20 quid over the GTX 460.

The 460 will play MOH on high ez...
Also, GTX 460 768MB version is within 4% of the FPS of the 6850 on everything except 2560x1600 Resolution so.... is it worth 20 quid on a medium budget system?

I think not,

As for the Radeon HD 6850 however, things are much more lopsided in AMD’s favor. It’s give and take depending on the benchmark, but ultimately it’s just as fast as the GTX 460 1GB on average, even though it’s officially $20 cheaper. And at the same time it draws less power and produces less noise than the GTX 460 1GB. In fact unless the GTX 460 1GB was cheaper than the 6850, we really can’t come up with a reason to buy it.

Well would it be better get the GTX 460 and upgrade the case to antec 902?
November 12, 2010 9:06:32 AM

The HD 6850 is the better buy right now - case as per preference ^^
November 12, 2010 6:55:14 PM

OK well if i go for the HD 6850, can you suggest me a cheap 2-way CF MOBO, ( no need for the new features like USB 3)

Yep happy shopping/building and u are welcomed ^^
November 12, 2010 7:27:34 PM

how do you select the best answer?
November 12, 2010 7:48:53 PM

unless you started this as anything other than 'a question looking for an answer' there should be an icon on each post marked 'select as best answer',
if thats not there you must've opened it as a discussion (Like I usually do hehe)
