£1000.00 to spend on UPGRADE

Hey everyone,

Have finally decided to upgrade the old Dell XPS 710. I have £1000 to spend on it, no more.

So, my current specs are:

Windows 7 Professional
Nvidia Nforce 590 Sli Mpu
Q6600 Processor
4 Gig of Ram (6--mhz)
8800 GTX Graphics Card
139 Gig Raptor Hard Drive
Physics Card

Would love to hear some suggestions about what use think I can do with this machine, its starting to show its age!

Save some money and snag a good OCZ Agility 2, OCZ Vertex 2, Gskill Pheonix, Patriot Inferno, Corsair Force SSD (90GB+) during the year end sales.

Did I forget anything? Assuming you can re-use the case?

Sounds good! Hope to still re-use the case as its an excellant one! Dont know if I need a new PSU as the one i have is 1000w

Even adding a second 460 (1GB) GPU you would only need a 750W PSU.

Does the FSB on the motherboard have to match that of the CPU? If I thought I could get away with it I would not replace the motherboard as I know it is so much trouble lol

lol. The CPU and motherboard must match. New motherboard = faster architecture; its a good thing.
