Need help choosing a new monitor

Hi,

I'm looking into upgrading my current monitor (It's a old LG Flatron 22", don't have the exact model on hand, but it must be around 4 years old)

Basically looking to upgrade the overall quality, energy usage, and size, for a low price mark (below 250CAN$)

I use it for minor gaming (mostly Diablo3), work, browsing, and watch tv series. I won't really watch movies on that screen.

Right now I've pretty much narrowed it down to those too monitors, but I can't decide which one would better fit my needs:

Samsung S24B350H, 24 inch, 2ms, TN, 219,99$

LG IPS235V, 23 inch, 5ms, IPS, 209.99$ (sale ending today, will go back to 249.99$)

Both have 1080 resolution. I'd rather have a 1200...but I don't think I can find one at such a low price tag.

So I guess basically the question I can't find answer to is: Am I better off with the extra inch and response time, or with an IPS pannel?

Also, are 24 inches too big for 1080 resolution?

I'm not sure I can help you decide, but I think one advantage you see for each is exaggerated:
1. manufactuer quoted response times are oversimplified and not useful metrics for comparison.
2. that LG has to be an e-IPS panel which is lower quality than other subtypes of IPS, though still a bit higher quality than a TN panel.

24 inches isn't too big for 1080p - I've got a 27-inch at that resolution, and I'm looking at getting a 32-inch.
