Hello everyone,

I'm currently in a dilemma and would like to know what the pros are thinking about this situation.

I am building my new computer, for work and to play games. I will purchase an Radeon HD (probably a 6950) to play with EyeFinity. I will purchase a new monitor 24inches. My issue is that I currently have 2 monitors (Samsung 226bw) and even if they are getting old (6 years I think), they are still working correctly (Except that one has an issue when I open it but it seems to be an usual issue with these monitors and easy and cheap to fix). The screens have a 16:10 ratio and resolution 1680x1050.

I read about EyeFinity and it seems you need to have 3 monitors with the same resolution/ratio or it might look awful in games. Someone can confirm this or has the workaround?

If it is true then I have those possibilities :

1. Purchase a monitor 16x10, 1920x1200.
PROS: I like16x10 ratio and it will work fine with EyeFinity
CONS: It cost twice the price of a single 1920x1080 monitor. If one of the old Samsung break, I will have to purchase another expensive monitor. I also fear that those 16:10 monitors disappear. Are they supported in all games and will they continue to be supported as well?!

2. Purchase another inexpensive 22" 1680x1050 monitor :
PROS: Will cost 150$ or less, will work ok with EyeFinity
CONS: Will be stuck at 1680x1050, even with games on 1 monitor, feel like I would throw my money by the windows!

3. Purchase 1 1920x1080 monitor :
PROS: Large variety of monitor, can have a nice one for 200$, easier to change the other monitors after
CONS: Games with EyeFinity might look awful

4. Purchase 3 1920x1080 monitors :
PROS: Would fix all my issues
CONS: 600$ and more for 3 screens, don't really want to change my old monitors as they are still fine unless I really have to.

Of Course I could still try to sell my 2 old monitors but they have 6 years of use, i won't have a good price so I prefer to keep them.

After one week of reading and searching, I still don't know. I had a budget of about 200-300$ for a monitor. The extra cost here will be cut on the pc itself :(

What do you suggest?

Thanks!

sell the old one soon for whatever and sum up with bucks u have.

Go for a nice 23" or 24" monitor like ASUS VS247H, etc.

It is a good deal and off-course u have option for 3x.

I kept the old one for my girldfriend and I purchased 3x23" Dell U2312hm as they had some good rebates. Very satisfied with my purchase so far, Eyefinity games are amazing :)

Thanks
