Hi all,

Looking to build a new rig for myself purely for gaming as my current one is ancient:

APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: Next week

SYSTEM USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: Gaming

PARTS NOT REQUIRED: keyboard, mouse, monitor, speakers

PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS: Amazon, Ebuyer, OCUK, Scan (open to others if the prices are cheap) Would prefer UK sites over international

PARTS PREFERENCES: Looking for quality as opposed to raw power at the expense of reliability, although i would preferably like the system to contain an ATI 5870 if possible.

OVERCLOCKING: No

MONITOR RESOLUTION: 1680x1050, 1920x1080,

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: Would like to stay below the £1000 mark

Here is a build i have researched, suggestions on where to save money are appreciated or if anyone can come up with a better complete build im totally open to that too :) at the moment it is totally build on scan.co.uk but money can probably be saved by sourcing from multiple sites, but i was a little short on time when i put this together:

AMD Phenom II X4 955 http://www.ebuyer.com/product/190673 £123
Get this as you can easily make it match the performance of the 965. You only have to increase the multiplier by one. Also make sure you get the MBOX version, as that is the newest C3 revision.

Asus M4A89GTD PRO/USB3 http://www.ebuyer.com/product/198314 £115
A cheaper option with a bit more of an upgrade option with SATA 6Gbps so that you could add a fast SSD in the future if you're interested in that kind of thing.

Crucial 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 1333MHz/PC3-10600 Ballistix Memory Kit CL7 (7-7-7-24) 1.65V http://www.ebuyer.com/product/179278 £95
Scan only stock Corsair RAM which is usually overpriced compared to comparable sets from other brands.

XFX HD 5870 1GB http://www.ebuyer.com/product/200580 £315
This one has a nice big fan on it, which should help to keep the card cooler and quieter compared to the original stock design.

Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 500GB http://www.ebuyer.com/product/158860 £37

Antec Truepower New 750 http://www.ebuyer.com/product/159921 £98
Powerful enough for two 5870s, if you don't want to be able to crossfire then a 550W PSU would be my recommendation.

Your case £60

Samsung SH-S223 22X DVD±RW/RAM/DL Serial ATA Black Bare Drive - OEM http://www.ebuyer.com/product/145450 £15

Windows 7 64bit Home Premium OEM http://www.ebuyer.com/product/173791 £76

Titan Fenrir TTC-NK85TZ/V2 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-009-TI&groupid=701&catid=57&subcat=1395 £30
About the same price as the Asaka cooler, but should perform a bit better in both temps and noise. Only needed if you are going to overclock or want a step up in terms of quiet compared to the stock cooler. You will need some thermal paste as well which should cost between £5-10.
