Looking for the best monitor for gaming that does NOT have screen tearing.
I currently have a Samsung SAM350 and when brought sounded really good for what I would use it for. But unfortunately screen tearing is really bad and when I change options in Nvidia control panel it goes away at the price of the slightest input lag. Also to note I am getting a GTX 570 late January so would it be wise to get that before getting monitor.
I want to be able to run BF3 MAX as well as STALKER Call of Pripyat
No New Egg as in UK.

Spec is

CPU-955 BE
RAM-4GB @ 1066
MOBO- M4A78LT-M
GPU- GTX 280
PSU- XFX CORE EDITION 850 WATT

Thanks in advanced

Any LCD with a <5 ms response time will be fine. You won't have to worry about screen tearing in BF3 on ultra settings with a gtx570, because you won't be getting enough fps where it will be refreshing faster than your monitor.

i thought tearing was caused my the GPU sending a new image before it's complete and can be solved by turning on v-sync which waits for an image to be complete before sending it (with the trade-off of lower FPS). you can't solve tearing with a newer/better monitor. or am i wrong?

Tearing happens when the image is not synched to the refresh rate, so as branden says, getting a new monitor or a new graphics card will make no change in that regard.

You make no mention of the resolution of the monitor, but going by what is the default these days, that being 1080p, you will not max out BF3 with a GTX 570. Not even a GTX 580 will do that, talking multiplayer here of course.
To max BF3 in multiplayer you would need a Crossfirex setup of Radeon 6950/SLI GTX 570 or better.

Sorry yes my res is 1920x1080. So no card or monitor will eliminate screen tearing. I am left to believe that its usually down to the game it self then?

Screen tearing happens when the game engine is displaying a lot more frames than your monitor can display. The monitor won't be done drawing a frame when it has to start drawing a new one, and you'll see parts of different frames at the same time. It's probably not a monitor problem, assuming you have an LCD that has a decent refresh rate and response time.

What exactly are you experiencing, though? Like what does the visual error look like? I doubt you'd get screen tearing in BF3 unless you had a really strong card running at really low settings. It's a demanding game and most people don't have a problem getting too many fps.

^ I agree with all of the above.

1. Your new GTX 570 will not max out BF3. Sorry, but it won't happen.

2. Your GTX 280 is causing tearing, at 1920x1080, on BF3?????? yea.....no. I don't think what you are experiencing is tearing. Like hapkido asked, what exactly are you experiencing?

I have a samsung SA350 23inch @ 1920 x 1080 @ 60hz Refresh rate. It seem like choppy jaggedness whilst playing Stalker Call of Pripyat but the engine is poorly coded for multi core so the monitor could well actually be fine. thanks for help and info
