Moniter turns off but computer keeps running

My pc and monitor turn on and I use the computer normally, but randomly the monitor will display' no signal'. The computer is still running. The only way I can get the monitor to work again is to turn off everything at the mains and re-start. I have bought and changed the monitor and the cable from the pc to the monitor, but this has not solved the problem. I am not very computer literate, please can you help? Trish

Hi Trish

As you have changed the monitor it cannot be that, which makes it the main tower or graphics card (if you have one)

We will need the specifications of the machine to help further...
