[Newbie help] Which 27" monitor??

Hey everyone, my build advice thread is currently being over run by a discussion as to which monitor I should purchase, so I figured I'd start a thread here to get more input because no one agrees on the same thing.

What I Want: a 27" monitor
LCD or LED: I don't know, does it matter that much?
Uses: I haven't played a video game on a PC in 7 years...if I start it will be rare and maybe just some Starcraft 2. The main use of the monitor will be my everyday usage as well as it doubling as a TV for my room to watch movies/streaming tv from.
Things that are important to me: Size, VESA compatible mounting brackets, something that doesn't suck.
Price Range: $250-320

With all this being said...I don't care for comments like; "if you're going to spend $300 on a monitor get this upper tier 23 inch" NO. You're missing the point...I haven't gamed on a computer in 7 years...I SERIOUSLY doubt I will be able to tell the difference from a lower end 27" as compared to mid-level 23"....ghosting, response time, contrast ratio, ect- these are important in certain cases, but to a degree your eyes have to be "use to it". Sure if I was going from an upper tier smaller monitor to an entry level bigger monitor I'd be like WTF this isn't the same...but I'm coming from a 15" core 2 duo macbook pro screen...it's safe to say I'll be impressed either way

I suggest getting new ASUS monitors then getting refurbished Samsung monitors.
  2. I agree with refillable, I have an ASUS and also bought several ASUS monitors for others. They are better than any other monitor I've used.
