Hi guys,

I have a question. I have an Old Sony SDM HS73 that I bought in 2003.... hmm that must be almost 8 years ago :pt1cable: .

I currently have a gaming computer with the Radeon 6870, I'm just wondering does the monitor effect gaming performance? Will a new monitor boost gaming performance?

Considering the age of my screen should I get a new one?

If I do get a good modern screen, how much change will I see in the performance?

Thanks!

Yep, I'd say it's time for an upgrade. A new monitor won't increase your frame rate, but it will allow to see more information in a shorter amount of time. With faster response time and lower input lag.

try reading a few reviews until you get an idea of the differences between monitors.

For raw gaming performance two good monitors would be the Samsung 2233RZ(low response time), or the Dell u2312HM (low input lag.)
