Getting new computer, do I need a new monitor?

Hello all. Just a quick question here.

I'm building a new computer to replace my old one. I was hoping to put off buying a monitor till later (Just so I spend a little less money) but I'd occurring to me... Do I HAVE to?

Most Video cards I'm looking at don't even HAVE a VGA port anymore. I know there are converters, but will that reduce the quality of the image below 1025 by 768, or not even work with my old monitor?

Depends on your current monitor's resolution. I had 1440x900 on vga with dvi to vga adapter before and the image resolution was not reduced.

My current resolution is 1028 by 768, and I'm looking at the Radeon 6950 for my new computer.

a vga adapter should work but you really want to get better monitor quick. No point putting in a 6950 without 1080p.
