I was thinking about getting an LED Backlight monitor. I have an LCD monitor already. What's the difference, and is it worth it, at all?

I would get the LED back-lit for the following reasons:

The florescent tube in a regular LCD monitor contains mercury, which makes them more costly to recycle.

The quality of light from a florescent tube degrades over time.

This type of display uses Light-Emitting Diodes (LEDs) instead of Cold Cathode Florescent Lamps (CCFLs) to light the display. This results in the ability to create a thinner panel, which is more energy efficient. In general, these displays are considered to be brighter and of higher quality than traditional LCD displays. However, make sure to research specific screens before you decide. How well that particular screen performs compared to its price is more important than whether it is LED-backlit or not, particularly since LED-backlit displays can be a bit more expensive.
