dude, go to overclockers.co.uk and check out their rigs firt. Free next day delivery - they're easily the best place to get components or builds that they do themselves.

Anyway - you should definatley build it yourself, it's so easy, especially if you use these forums as support

I will give you my version of your list in a bit - need to do coursework first...

well a P45 chipset will do than, I don't trust nvidias SLI mobos after what I ve seen with them and they are too expesnive for what they are really. and atm I think intels option works faster and cheaper than the AMD one i was in this position myself. the q6600 is better than the 9950 in oth overclocking and in applications (its only a slight advantage) but at the time i built mine, the intel option was alot cheaper. I m not a fanboy of intel or anything, I m only saying thier qaud is cheaper and better performing than AMD 9950 I m not saying don't get one lol

Im willing to look at both amd and intel.I did notice overclockers.co.uk have limited selection of amd mb's unlike intel they seemed to have loads.I have no intentions of overclocking and wouldent know ware to start.I honestly dont have clue when it comes to building a pc im just going with what looks good.

Ok man I came up with a build that I think you may like a lot more:
(all prices inc VAT)

MOBO: Gigabyte GA-X48-DS4 Intel X48 - £158.61
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-121-GI

CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 "Energy Efficient SLACR 95W Edition" - £136.29
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CP-161-IN

RAM: Corsair 4GB DDR2 XMS2 Dominator PC2-8500C5 TwinX (2x2GB) - £79.89
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-148-CS

PSU: Corsair TX 750W ATX2.2 SLI Compliant PSU - £93.99
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-011-CS

GPU:
If you have a larger monitor - 24" plus, and you play at resolutions of 1920x1200 or more:
- Powercolor ATI Radeon HD 4870 1024MB GDDR5 - £223.24

If you have a 22" or play at 1680x1050, you don't really need the extra memory - go for this new HD4870 - It has vapour cooling which makes it run savagely cooler - a little more expensive, but beastly - especially when you are concerned about the high temps that normal 4870s put out. This will make your case far cooler.
- Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 4870 "Toxic" 512MB GDDR5 - £258.49

Total: £702 including shipping GPU option 1

£737.78 including shipping GPU option 2

For your MOBO, you can get amazing free support at this forum:
http://forums.tweaktown.com/f69/

The guy there called Lsdmeup helps EVERY poster, and he works for gigabyte so he can help with anything.

I chose this build because ATI are better cards at the moment, really. 2 you want an Intel 775 board and a Q6660. Don't be scared and overclock it aswell - takes a day of reading, then a day of overclocking to get a good result. You'll then need to spend £30 on a cooler. I included the x48 board so you can crossfire if you want in the future. Also, you were considering PSUs that were too small if powering sli/xfire so I listed a tier1 quality, powerful PSU that will easily handle another card in xfire. Greaat cables aswell. All this v. easy to put together.

BTW, what case, monitor etc do you have??

Ok my hd is Maxtor260gb sata cant rember mod but its only couple months old.

Samsung dvd drive ide
Pioneer dvdrw
Ok I got 3 cases around the house and there all gaming cases.Cant rember the names but the one i intend to use has plenty of cooling and space so there are no problems there.I checked i could fit a 280 in it when i read about therre size.
As for moniter Yuraku 19" Widescreen Black TFT Monitor i can have resolutions upto 1440 buy 900 but im one few people that dont like large moniters, and tend to play games on lower resolutions.1280 by 800 is my norm but i will most likeley use my max res of 1440 by 800 once i get upgrade in gpu currently useing 8600gts.

Both drives have done me well never had problems with them so see no need to replace them.As for the hd like i said only couple months old i have exsternal hd and a server for backups so size not that big an issue.

As for gpu i hate ati i dont care if there better but I have had to many troubles with drivers and them breaking down on me I never had one problem with Nvidia unlike ati.

Due to my moniter size i dont think ill ever have the need for sli or crossfire. One of the advantages of prefering small moniters.

You would be ill served to hold on to old preconceptions of ati - maybe they were rubbish once, bu tnow their cards are market leaders and driver support is better than Nvidia. Due to your monitor, i recommend the 2nd GPU option, bu tdefinatley stay with - less power used, less space taken up and better performance + future proofing - gddr5 and directx 10.1

Also, a p45 mobo would be better suited for you. You could even save cash on the GPU, and if you're only worried about gaming - a dual core may be better - i'd still go with a overclocked Quad. The money you save on the mobo and GPU can be used to get a better CPU cooler so you can get 3.5ghz-4ghz comfortably.
