120Hz TFT/LCD Monitor

Hello everyone

We are looking for a TFT/LCD monitor which has a refresh rate of 120Hz. We would like to make an experiment and need that kind of refresh rate.
I completely understand that the refresh rate is not important for average usage since most monitors have restricted the refresh rate to 60Hz which usually is plenty. I also read, that there are other monitors with refresh rates of 75Hz and 120Hz.
Unfortunately I wasn't able to find one of those.... Any recommendations?

Theres actually a lot of 120hz monitors. Heres some of the best ones.

Acer HS244HQ
Asus VG236H
BenQ XL2410T

am I mistaken, or do those listed monitors all offer 120Hz, but only 3D? Are they also able to show a picture in 2D, without the use of the shutter glasses?

120hz and 3D means the same thing because 3D requires a 120hz refresh rate. You can run any 120hz monitor without 3D.

I have been looking at both the BenQ XL2410T and the Asus VG236HE (349.00 w/o 3d glasses). Do you think that these types of models are overkill for non-3D gaming use?

Not at all, many people enjoy the 120hz refresh rate. Thing appear much more smooth, given that your graphics card can maintain 120 frames per second.
