my dad wants a new rig, but it doesn't need to be anything fancy. So could you guys give me the links to all the parts i need. the main parts are a dual core psu, a graphics card worthy of playing games like half-life 2, tf2 and company of heroes on like med/low settings. He also wants 19" monitor.

The monitor is going to kill your budget. I'm too lazy to convert to £'s at the moment, but I can give you a basic list in dollars.

CPU: E6750 - $189

You could also go for an AMD chip if you wanted. I think the 5000+ is pretty cheap right now, if you do go this route, you need to look for another motherboard that supports socket AM2. (The ASUS M2N is a good board for that)

Mobo: Gigabyte P35-DS3 series - $99-129
(Newegg is out of stock of the cheaper one, the DS3L)

RAM: 2x1GB PC6400 DDR2 - $59

GPU: ATI 3850HD - $159 @ bestbuy.com or ~$179 from newegg.com (probably the best card in terms of money spent vs. performance)

PSU: 500W OCZ StealthXtreme - $74.99

Case: Coolermaster Centurion 5 - $49.99

*edit* Forgot storage and optical drives
Storage - You can get a 300GB for ~$89.00 now

Optical - Samsung DVD-ROM / RAM ~$25-39.00

Monitor - I'm not sure if you want a widescreen or not. Please comment on this.

If you need an OS - that's another $79-200

This will basically give you something nice and last him a few years.

I'm just listing the parts you need and giving you a ballpark estimate of cost. Regardless of where you purchase, they should have those parts.
