Revised my build, I found a bit more cash. :)

Budget: ~£600 (~$1200)

Already have:
Case: Antec Dragon
HDDs: Maxtor 300gb IDE + Western Digital 500gb SATA
PSU: OCZ StealthXStream 600w
LCD: Samsung SM931BW 19" Widescreen
Drives / Extras: DVD drive, keyboard, mouse, headphones etc.
OS: Dual boot Vista Ultimate 64bit + XP Pro

What I'm getting:
Mobo: No idea... P35 or 680i?? About ~£100 to spare.
CPU: C2D Q6600 G0 Stepping - £188
Gfx: EVGA 8800 GTS 320MB - £212
Mem: GeIL 2GB 800Mhz 4-4-4-12 - £70
CPU Cooler: No idea... ~£20 spare.
Shipping: £8

All prices from

Total pretty much exactly £600.

What do you think? See any problems? Change anything? Need advice on cooler and mobo.

Thanks in advance.

HSF: Scythe Katana 2 for that budget

Either get the GA-P35-DS3R (No DDR3) or GA-P35C-DS3R (DDR2 & DDR3 Support), If the difference between both is too more than $15 then go for the P35-DS3R, if it's less, then for the P35C-DS3R.

Thanks. They seem to be out of stock on the Scythe Katana 2 though.

How does it compare to these two Zalman? (Exactly the same price as the SK2)
Zalman CNPS7500B-ALCU
Zalman CNPS7000B-CU

They have loads of HSFs at around the same price £15-25 here, bit too much choice. :ouch:

Also, Gigabyte prices are as follows:
GA_P35_DS3R - £92
GA_P35C_DS3R - £94
GA_P35_DS3P - £100
GA_P35_DS4 - £112

I can probably fit the more expensive ones in if it's worth it. Otherwise I'll just get the GA_P35C_DS3R for £94 I guess?

I told you, GA-P35C-DS3R, that's one of the best boards out there, probably will be until we see the X38 chipset later on.

And if you can't get the Scythe Katana 2, then this one:

Ah thanks, I think I am almost ready to order. :D

ACF7 is a lot cheaper, you're not a fan of zalmans then?

Ehhh they are alright, but for Zalmans I'd go with the 9500 or 9700 instead, but that's worth like $55. I'm actually a fan of the Tuniq Tower 120, again outside of your budget :)
