Hi, i have a HP 2309m monitor. even after i reduce its brightness to a minimum from the monitor controls, its brightness is way too much to use at night in complete darkness. due to this, i am experiencing pain in my eyes. i know its not the ideal conditions to use a monitor in but still,if you can tell me a way to reduce even further to acceptable levels, it would be great.
Earlier i had a LG CRT monitor and i could use it smoothly during the night as i could reduce its brightness to amazingly low levels.

P.S. I tried fidgeting with the other controls(contrast n all) as well but to no avail.

Thank you.

probably catalyst control center.

you can adjust the gamma and brightness output in your video card driver software (amd/ati's catalyst or nvidia's control panel) which can help.

there is only so much you can do if the panels backlight is too strong. you can reduce it as i said before but only soo much which might not be enough in some cases. if you use some ambient lighting this can also help.
