Hp elite desktop - can't connect monitor

hello. i am having trouble connecting my new monitor to my new computer. the desktop is HP Elite 7000 and the monitor is a dell 19". the blue VGA cable does not fit the outlet in the back of the computer. the greyish white VGA(?) cable does not fit either. i don't want to connect it with USB.

can anyone help?

The computer seems to offer VGA and DVI connection (the wider multi pin socket) and perhaps the Dell screen is HDMI.

It would probably help to post the model number of the Dell Monitor. You may have to either add a new video card to the computer (no bad thing as onboard vid isn't always great) or get a different monitor.

You mention using USB (I didn't know you could but I guess that's another option for you).
