Dell monitor fizzing noise

Dell Model 1907FBT Monitor started fizzing and then blinking then off.

Sounds like a failing capacitor in the power supply.

If you are familiar with soldering circuit boards look for a bulging component -- or in extreme cases leakage -- replacement is relatively simple and cheap.

If you are not familiar with soldering circuit boards, be aware that the circuit in a monitor can store painful voltages even disconnected from the wall. Leave it to a technician.
