ASUS VW266H 25.5-Inch Widescreen LCD Monitor

I'm looking to pickup a 24" (or larger) LCD monitor for my new gaming rig that I built last month. This monitor is currently $289 ($259 after a $30 MIR) on Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B001LYPNFQ).

It received 4/5 eggs on newegg.com (http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductReview.aspx?Item=N82E16824236047), and seems like a great monitor with 1920 x 1200 max resolution and a 2ms response time.

Anyone have this monitor and wish to share their thoughts? How does this stack up against other 24" monitors out there?

Anyone have any thoughts on the ASUS VW266H? How it compares to the 2408WFP?

The Asus uses a TN panel which means:
1. Inexpensive
2. Either 2ms or 5ms response time.
3. Relatively low input lag.
4. Adequate viewing angles for the average consumer.
5. The further off-center you are the more the colors shift.
6. More prone, from my general experience to have backlight bleeding.


The Dell uses a S-PVA panel which means:
1. More expensive due to higher manufacturing costs.
2. Response time is 6ms.
3. This particular is notorious for relatively high input lag, but each revisions (A02 most current) has reduced input lag. Still higher than the Asus though in my opinion.
4. Deeper (better) blacks.
5. Generally better colors especially when properly calibrated.
6. Good viewing angles.
7. Colors do not shift as quickly as TN panels.
8. Less likely to have backlight bleeding issues from my experience.

I'm going to be using the monitor on a gaming/video editing/HD movie-watching PC. I'm really intrigued by the ASUS' low response time.

I'll probably decide on this next week. If anyone else has any thoughts on the subject, I would appreciate reading about them here. Thanks!

I am considering the same monitor. For the sub 300$ price tag it looks like it might be the best gamer monitor available. Anyone know a better 26" monitor for gaming for the 250-350$ range?

I like a big screen but I am not gonna shell out 700$ for one.

Input lag is a big issue for my FPS games, not sure how noticeable the backlight bleeding would be for games..
