This is probably a noob question to the experienced people here, but I am trying to upgrade my monitor and don't quite get something, or maybe am just missing it. I have a NVidia GeForce 9800 GX2 video card which has Two Dual Link DVI outputs on it. I am looking to get a Dell UltraSharp 3007WFP-HC monitor which only has one DVI-D input on it.

My question - how would I need to hook this up so that I can display it in native (2560x1920) resolution? One DVI-D cable?

Thanks in advance for helping the noob.

Where did you get that resolution from? According to the DELL tech specs the 3007WFP-HC has a max resolution of 2560X1600 not 2560x1920. In fact from my understanding such a resolution is beyond the capability of DVI-D dual link. AS the 3007WFP-HC has only one DVI-D connection then it couldn't display that resolution anyhow, though not terribly sure about that.

Second depending on the cards manufacturer it should have a DVI-D dual link as well. So my guess is get a DVI-D cable and plug one end into your computer and the other into the monitor.

Please I understand you might be new to this sort of stuff but you found this forum so you can use Google and read your product manual before you ask someone else to do it for you.

I did not realize I posted the wrong resolution, I was referring to 2560x1600.

I did look on the internet and google for over an hour before posting this, but was getting confused between the different terms, and wanted to make sure I was correct. I don't need to be told how to search the internet, and wasn't asking anyone to do anything for me...

Thank you for responding.
