Can anyone help me out please. I'm looking for the fastest SATA HD I could get for around £50 ($100). I mostly just want it for gaming but also for general windows usage as well. Something around the 100Gb mark I guess (although I wouldn't turn down anything bigger!) as I've got another 160Gb ATA HD that I can use to store music etc on.

I'm thinking maybe something from the cheaper end of the Western Digital family or the Hitachi DeskStar 7K160?

Does anyone have any suggestions? My M/B supports both 1.5 and 3.0 SATA.

Go with a 36Gb Raptor, and get a 250 GB for storage.I have two 150 Gb raptors in each of my machines, and also two 250Gb sata2 drives as well. The Raptors are fast, and you 'll notice just how fast when your gaming.

Not too many will argue with this choice. It's one of the best 7200 r.p.m. drives on the planet. GL :)
