£200 upgrade budget

Hi,

I'm looking to either upgrade my gpu and I have about £200 to spend. Currently I have:
-AMD A8-3870k with stock cooling
-Asrock A75m-hvs fm1 motherboard
-Cit 1011b midi black case
-Stock 500w PSU
-4gb G.Skill Ripjaws 1600mhz
-OCZ SATA II 60gb ssd
-Generic DVD drive
-External USB3.0 5400rpm 500gb HDD
-1080p acer monitor + a dell 1280x1024

I've got a few games (Skyrim, Assassin's Creed) but don't really mind about (not) maxing them out. Just wondering what would be the most worthwhile upgrade? :)

  1. Your PSU won't cut it, I suggest getting a better PSU for 50 bucks from Antec, XFX, Silverstone, Corsair (make sure it is over 500 W)

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sapphire-11199-00-20G-HD7870-GDDR5-Graphics/dp/B007MUJL2E/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1354466447&sr=8-1

Good card and will cost a little bit more with the PSU. However, if you are willing to spend 250+, feel free to explore the other brands like Asus, or even look at GTX 660 ti or HD 7950. It will max out any current modern games and is good for its price!

Happy Gaming and hope this helps!
  2. For your £200 budget i would say either the:

    7870

    or

    with cash to spare.

Yea his is better, didn't know any other etailer in the UK. Spend that extra cash on the PSU, very important!

Thanks for the quick reply! -I was just wondering would anything above ~7850 be massively bottlenecked by the cpu of the 3870k?
