Hi! I am looking for a new graphics card, mainly to play Guild Wars 2. I want to maintain a good frame rate even in busy PvP scenarios. I’d also like to be able to play GTA IV and Skyrim smoothly. I currently use one 1920×1080 monitor. I may get a second 1920×1080 monitor or (will more likely) upgrade to a single 2560×1440 monitor within the next year or two.

My PC specs follow:

Motherboard: ASUS M5A99X EVO
CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 960T (3.00GHz)
Memory: Corsair XMS3 DDR3 (8GB, 1600MHz)
GPU: XFX Radeon HD 5670 (1GB DDR5)
HDD: Western Digital Caviar Black WD1002FAEX (1TB, 7200RPM)
PSU: Antec True Power TP-550 (550W)

I’m looking at the XFX Radeon HD 7950. I’ve found the FX-795A-TDFC (Double Dissipation Edition) for around £250 which is as much as I am happy to spend on a GPU. I will be buying the card in December or January.

A) Is the HD 7950 overkill at 1920×1080?
B) How about for two 1920×1080 monitors or a single 2560×1440 monitor?
C) Will my CPU be a bottleneck?
D) Will my PSU cope?

Many thanks for your time.

nice set. you can do anything with that,
no bottleneck if u oc the procie phenoms are great overcloker
you can max every game in 19x10 res.
here is the problem you might need to upgrade the psu
but still you can run it with that just need little more watts so that it will not be running near 100% of its capability
