  1. You won't find many single slot cards or short or quiet cards for games.

A Radeon 7750 is pretty quiet and small.

A nVidia 560 is faster, as quiet but larger and a bit more expensive.

Anything over that goes well over your price range and other wants.

this looks to tick the most boxes does the pci express 2.0 mobo effect cards much the card is 2.1
  3. I think the best option is the 7770. You have PCI-e power connectors so that isn't an issue and most PCBs are as short as the 7750. A 5770/6770 wouldn't also be bad. You might be able to still find some cheep short 460's floating around.
  4. http://www.hwcompare.com/11925/radeon-hd-6850-vs-radeon-hd-7770 first thing that poped up when i googled 7770 looks like the 6850 out does it considerably just requires more juice
  5. Golly, I think the 6850 prolly takes less juice than the 8800 GTX! Yeah, the performance jump between the lines is pretty stark and that 6850 looks like a good deal especially if it is shorter than your current card.

Did you get a used or refurbished 560? If it's new and crashing, get a replacement. Unless your case is cramped and/or does not have enough fans.
