I have a viewsonic 17" flat screen. I think it's great, although now I wish now I would have gotten the 19". I think for the cost, I would get another viewsonic. They have a black 19" perfect flat at newegg for $285, I don't know what that is in canadian, but it looks pretty good.
Here's an <A HREF="http://www17.tomshardware.com/display/02q1/020319/index.html" target="_new">article</A> on THG that might help you decide. Good luck.

The prices you show seem to be higher than the MSRP. If you go to Sony.com you'll notice that the price for a G420S is onlt a little over 400. Also the FE991SB is not as good as any of the other 4 monitors you mentioned, better get the FP912SB. If the G420S is pricey then go for the Sony CPD-G410R, I own that monitor right now and performs well. The geometry is near perfect, convergence options is useful and has 85Hz on 1600x1200, displays text xlearly too. The CPD-G410R is just 1 step behind the G420S but I assure you it's better than the NEC FE991SB which on most reviews you'll read that it doesn't display text very well but as for graphics it's jsut fine. Also take note of the damper wires on Trinitron monitors. If you do a lot of text based work and are often using a white background you'll more likely to notice the damper wires.

too abd you missed a sale on dell.com where they offer the Sony CPD-G420S for $340 USD + free shipping. Right now they raised the prices a bit but it's still free shipping so for sure you'll get over $100 of saving on that Sony monitor.

The prices are in Canadian dollars, therefore they seen high..

Okie then the NEC FE991SB-BK, 19" SuperBright A.G., is now crossed out of my list.I am still curious how the NEC FP912SB compares to the LG 915FT+, which is superior, with respect to text and/or graphics?

Again I have not seen these monitors in person, so eny personal comparison is helpfull, thnx..

You can email Viewsonic. They will reply but not in a fast manner...I asked them to compare their G90F with NEC's FE990 and they answered my inquiry quite well...Sometimes it's confusing which model is better in a certain line of models...I sure hope they imrpove upon themselves and let the ppl know which ones are new and which ones are better...

I believe the P95F is newer and probably better than the P90F. Usually I look inot the refresh rates on who ahs the better one and bandwidth...most sites doesn't give direct comparisons and I hope they start doing so...

The P90F is a Flat Tension Mask and the P95F is an Aperture Grill type. The FTM doesn't have the two visable tension wires like the P95F but in theory will not be as bright as the P95F (it's inbetween a Shadow Mask and Aperture Grill).
If you can, I'd find a place that has them on display (it's a pain to find though).
I'v just picked up a P95F (black!) as when I saw it on display the tension wires were fainter than I expected and didn't bother me

Pete.

The ViewSonic 22" P225f might be the 'best' monitor you have come across, but that's not what he's getting. If you're going to run at 1600x1200, 75 hz might bother you after long periods of time (depends on everyone). I'm not sure about the NEC, but the LG 915+ is nice, good colours and text, and i haven't had issues geometry problems Tom was talking about in the review at higher resolutions (running at 1600x1200 as we speak). However, it does take like 5-10 minutes for the monitor to warm up, so the size of the screen will be smaller at first (after time goes by it should pan out perfectly). Also, i know some monitors change resolutions instantly (such as running a game at 1024 then going into ur desktop of 1600), but with the LG 915+ there is a 2-3 second delay, if that bothers you. Some 19' also have this delay...but, like i said, i'm not sure about the NEC.

Hey, my monitor quest is similar to yours, except price really isn't a factor. I need great text capability (because that's what I do most), but also top notch graphics because this monitor will also be used to demonstrate our site(s). Would appreciate your thoughts on 19" sony's, nec's, viewsonics. It's much more difficult to shop monitors that it is PCs.

Thanks

Hey Tonto, just wondering, where did you find a "P95f" BLACK, you MUST be thinking about the P95f+B because according to the website (and every computer store i've visited) the p95f is NOT offered in black (unless of course you got it painted or something)
But if you did get it in black, could you tell me where? I've got a black system (case, mouse, keyboard, speakers, etc), but am missing the monitor, I had the p95f+B, but was displeased with the bluriness on the bottom left corner at high refresh rates which i was only barely able to improve, even with all the options on the OSD. thx a bunch in advance
