Hello all,

Basically, my friend in Germany is looking for a Graphics card that costs under €50 (£40) which he can use to play games such as Borderlands, League of Legends, Counterstrike: Source, etc. Not really big games like Crysis, Battlefield 3 or Modern warfare, but just simple games. I am not sure which motherboard he has (PCIE 2.0, etc.) but he was running a GeForce 8600 GT 256MB (DDR3 PCI-E) before.

Can anyone recommend a good graphics card for this budget please? no matter whether its AMD or NVIDIA but it needs to run the games (preferably on medium settings). Any help would be awesome.

Thanks in advance

Thanks for the reply, but... thats way over the budget and he he doesn't trust anywhere outside Germany so I don't think he would purchase that one. I could also not find the card on German websites.

Any other suggestions?

You will need to increase that budget to a 6770 if yo u want to play med settings. on most games. The ones you listed a gt430 will do

If I were him, I'd save up a little more and get a 6770. Otherwise, you're really going to limit yourself on the games you play. Source games don't take too much power to play, but if you skimp out you'll notice it.

Thanks for all the replies

@tracker45: No, the card will not be second hand.
@Sunius: GT440 looks like a good card, thanks for that link.
@FlintIronStagg: It does not have to be medium settings really, it can be low too but preferably mid.

Though, I think he will go for the GT440, unless someone has a good reason not to.

Also, don't go for GT 520, it sucks :). GT 440 is more than 2 times power powerful than GT 520. GT 440 is the lowest recommended card in tom's hardware best cards for your money. So yea, it's a decent card.

yes of couse thats not me i have seen that image on google well i m of 14 yrs so i cant look like that uncle.

The calculator I used said that £40 is ~$64 right now, so the 250 should be in your budget.

The 250 is also more powerful than the 430 or 440, acc. to tom's, it's about on par with a 450

The 430/440 do support DX11 (250 is DX10), but with a lower range card, you probably don't want to turn on DX11 anyway.
