New graphics card £100 budget

Hi
My friend built me a budget rig about 6 months ago. Now i would like to upgrade my graphics card because my card geforce 9500gt is a bit slow when playing modern games. Here is a link to its unimpressive specs

http://www.inno3d.com/products/graphic_card/gf9/9500gt.htm

However i only have a 450W power supply and a relatively cheap motherboard .

Here are the specs for the motherboard. regarding the graphics card slots. A lot of the graphics cards i looked at need 3.0 or 2.1 slots or something so i thought i should check what will work with your lot.

http://www.msi.com/product/mb/870-G45.html#?div=Detail

Slots
• 1 PCI Express 2.0 slot with x16 operation (PCI Express Bus SPEC V2.0 compliant)
• 1 PCI Express 2.0 slot with x4 operation (PCI Express Bus SPEC V2.0 compliant)
• 1 PCI EXpress x1 slot
• 3 PCI slots, support 3.3V/ 5V PCI bus Interface

What i would like to know is what is the best card i can get that will fit my machine for £100 or under ?

My preferable sellers are amazon and ebuyer but im open to more if they're reputable.

Thank you !!!

More about graphics card 100 budget
  1. Have you tried this? http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/gaming-graphics-card-review,review-32416.html
It might give you some ideas.
And don't worry if it's PCIe 3.0 or 2.0. GPU with 3.0 will work with no problems on a 2.0 motherboard.
  2. Actually, What exactly is the PSU? Some PSU are labeled 450W, but burn out when doing 300W Load. If your PSU is fine (yes your Motherboard seems fine), I recommend this 6850 for the £100. I wonder why it is very cheap but should be a good deal.
  3. Buy all of your computer components from www.newegg.com
  4. http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/8903074/CiT-450U-450W-PSU-Power-Supply-Unit-Gold/Product.html

Here is the power supply ( i didn't buy it from here but i think its the same one).

Upon further research i found out you need 2x 6-Pin PCI-E Power connectors required for the one jcurry23 suggested but i think i only have 1 . It appears as though some models do need 2 and some don't does anyone have any clarification ?
  5. Your power supply is not a good unit, but it might be able to power a 6850, a 6850 only requires one pci-e cable:

If i were you i would save up another 30-40 euros and get a quality power supply as well.
  6. I suggest changing the PSU. What budget can you put?

Well i was really hoping i didn't have to change the psu aswell. I suppose i have a £40 budget for psu but i would really like to avoid buying one if i can get away with my current one since my system isn't massively power hungry.
Or maybe there is a slightly worse card that i could get that doesn't need a new psu ?
  8. Oh yeah the specs for the psu for those you can't be bothered to follow the link are

    Cit 450w

    +3.3v 20A
    +5v 30A
    12v1 10A
    12v2 13A
    -12v 0.3A
    +5vsb 2.5A
  9. I think you need to change it so your system is stable :). Here is CX500 that I would get for £40

With VAT and delivery that psu is £55.49 and the other one suggest is £50.33.
Is there any branded psu that would run the card that is a bit cheaper ?
  11. I don't know if you can, but can you find good budget PSU like FSP, antec, seasonic in UK?
  12. http://www.ebuyer.com/363095-ocz-500w-corexstream-psu-ocz-cxs500w-uk

This one looks quite good for your needs. It costs £35. Delivery costs £3 but it varies on how quickly you want it...
  13. The other option would be keep the PSU and upgrade to a 7750. If it can support a 9500GT, it can support a 7750.
  14. In the end i bought a 550 watt corsair psu for £35.
The 6850 went up in price just before i was about to buy, i waited a couple of weeks but it didn't go down again so i spent £10 more and got a XFX 6870.

Thanks for all your help !
