Hey, I am wondering what the best graphics card is for £100 or below. I am ordering from Ebuyer UK, so if you can find one on there, that would be awesome.

I currently have the Dell Inspiron 530, quad core and have no idea what can and can't be used for my computer.

I currently have a Radeon HD 4670 which is alright, but lags when on WoW, and Minecraft.

Thanks!

I have a 350watt power supply (which is the standard for the quad core computer) and I am currently looking into upgrading my power supply.

I said ebuyer, as I want some memory, but no free shipping unless over £50, and I'll see that link. Thankyou!

Also, I want looking at this graphics card: http://www.ebuyer.com/271723-his-hd-6770-1gb-gddr5-dual-dvi-hdmi-displayport-pci-e-graphics-card-h677f1gd not sure if its any good tbh.

EDIT: This is the computer I have: http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/reviews/desktop-pc/2151/dell-inspiron-530-1142-budget-desktop-pc-review/ (but it had no graphics card, but does now -- see above)

I now need a new graphics card and a new power supply :p

(I can't edit my first post :()

My power supply is 350watts.

I currently have these in my basket:

Graphics card: http://www.dabs.com/products/evga-geforce-gtx-550-ti-951mhz-1gb-pci-express-hdmi-7DV3.html

Power Supply: http://www.dabs.com/products/best-value-alpine-700w-psu-120mm-red-fan-78ZS.html

Memory (I currently have 2gb): http://www.dabs.com/products/kingston-valueram-1gb-240-pin-ddr2-800mhz-cl6-57HX.html

Are these good for my computer to play WoW, Minecraft and other games (such as Guild Wars 2 when it comes out) on?

as for the PSU selection this would be a much better choice:
http://www.dabs.com/products/corsair-430-watt-cx430-v2-builder-series-80-plus-power-supply-7K9K.html?refs=55420000

you should use this to work out the wattage you need:
http://extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp

that PSU that you chose has no reviews and it is very important to get a good PSU. (non-branded PSUs are suseptible to blowing up, noise, heat, low efficiency and not providing anywher enar the wattage they say they do, even if they do they will provide the power in places where its not needed eg the 5V rails instead of the 12V rails.

[EDIT]:
btw tthe 550Ti is better than the 6770.

But will the 430 watt limit me? I am only going up 80watt -- I just thought it would be better to get a higher watt PSU, but I don't want to be spending alot of money on one, as I am only upgrading as I need to to get a better graphics card.

its the 12V rail that matters, eg a 350W PSU with only 12A on the 12V rail will only provide 144Watts (and since no PSU is 100% efficient it will actually give 100.8Watts) and the corsair will provide 336W and at 80% efficiency, thats 268.8Watt.

the '700W' PSU you selected is only about 65% efficient, so it will provide 296.4Watts on the 12V rail .

Now do you understand what i am saying?

Right, so basically, the cheaper one isn't as reliable, thus it pumps out less? Where as the other one (430w) pumps out 80% because its built better.

But from the numbers you just gave, doesn't the 700w pump out more (30w more?) but I do understand that a cheaper brand (or no bran in this case) is not a very good option due to issues with it.

I just want the best PSU for the price that works with that graphics card and my computer :p

the 700W will be wasting 159.6Watts while the CX430 will be losing 67.2W, the corsair is able to run at at 100% of its rated wattage and still being to run it can even provide more than its rated wattage, the 700W however can hardly provide its rated wattage, will run hotter, waste more energy, and does not have proper voltage regulation which may cause damage to the components in your PC.

Ahh okay, so that one (the Corsair 430) is the best one to go for for the price?

yes, at that price point the Corsair CX430 is the best value for money here in the UK (well in the 100-500W region anyway).

no problems, your only half way there so far ;) be sure to come back if you come accross any problems, and be sure to uninstall ALL old drivers for that 4670 before putting that 550Ti in!
