My out of warranty Nvidia 275GTX is overheating and needs to be replaced. I am leaning toward the ATI 6870 here for £180. Are there any other GPU's I should consider? ATI 6950 2GB - £225? I play at 1920x1200 and hope to get a solid 30fps on any game/maximum settings

System spec

Q6600 3.0GHZ
GIGABYTE EP45-DS3R
6GB PC2 6400 800mhz (2x 2gb/2x 1gb)
***Nvidia GTX 275 896mb***
Asus Xonar DX soundcard
Windows 7 x64
Jeantech 1000W PSU

Thanks for the help :)

ah yes I see now this one is probably worth considering at ~£200 then.

Well, I've found an ex-display PowerColor HD 6870 1GB GDDR5 for £162 now. Will the extra performance of the Gigabyte 560 ti warrant paying an extra ~25% £?

That's completely up to you. It's always been my strategy to get as much card as I can within my budget with an eye toward the multi-card setup in the future.

The gigabyte one is out of stock until March 1st. I won't let that influence my decision though. I agree it is good strategy to go for the best you can within your budget. I don't really have a budget though, if a £500 GPU offered twice the performance of a £250 GPU I would get it. This said the more expensive you go, the less performance you seem to be paying for. I usually aim for the best price/performance available.

So without any budget, I am looking for whatever offers the best value for money whether it be high end or mid range. It does seem to be quite neck and neck between the 6870 and the 560 ti... I wonder if the 6950 2gb is worth mentioning as well? The 2GB of memory will probably be overkill unless I am gaming above 1920x1200...
