Looking to spend about £100 - £120 - What can my PC support?

2.7 GB RAM
Vista Home Premium Edition 32-bit
NVIDIA GeForce 9300 GE (GeForce 9300 GE
Video RAM 1.4 GB

Those are my current specs. I'm looking for a card that can run a few of the newer games and to watch some 1080P movies as well. A friend has recommended a ATI Radeon HD4870 1GB (I can pick one up for about £115 inc delivery).

Would this be a good choice and could my PC actually support that card? Also, if not, could you recommend a card that would work better?

What are the specs of your powersupply? Open the case to read the rating label on it if you do not know.
Also, what is the resoloution of your monitor?
Without this information all we can do is speculate.

As coozie said its all guess work with out that info but there are HD4770's at Overclockers at the moment, its a decent enough card around 4850 performance and more if you want to OC
Still depends on the above but its more likley to work than a 4870 as it has less power req
