need a decent graphics card for around £100

hi im looking too buy a graphics card , and i wanna spend around £100 i know i wont get a great one for that but i aint exactly a hardcore gamer , ( put it this way my last computer only had a nVidia GeForce FX 5200 256MB) , so i reckon if i get one for around £100 i will see a big diffrence. also im gonna get a q6600 quad g0 , not sure about the mother board was better a

For that kind of price point you will be looking at the 3850 from ATI can be had for about £85-90 or a 9600GT which are a bit over about £110-115 last i looked and they will be fine at resolutions around the 19" range. If you plan to run say a 22" monitor or above then you need to start thinking of paying a bit more for a 3870 or a 8800GT/GTS. Ebuyer are quite good on prices http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/home/

Yes I am in the uk I know i should really fill all that in and so should everyone else, makes life easier but that would be ..too easy .
To the OP sorry i should have specified i was refering to a 512mb card. In my opinion buying a 256 card is not worth it anymore if you have the intention of playing games.

wait a few weeks and then get a 3870 - price drops are coming that should put the card at that price

There's not much between the 9600 and the 3870, only in anti-aliasing really. It's still minimal, I'd wait a week or two, see what happens with the prices. If you don't have a preference between either card, then flip a coin. Both are at about £110-120 right now, but they're definitely worth the extra cash over the sub £100 cards.

I'd go for a 9600GT as well. Works very well for me.

I'd recommend the P35-DS3L too.

http://www.scan.co.uk and http://www.overclockers.co.uk are usually cheapest, scan is where I got my parts from, was around £20 cheaper than OCUK.
