X800pro , Overdrive and the magic 44°C

Interesting blurb by the InQ on Overdrive's effect on a PC X800pro and this threshold temperatur of 44°C.

So a quality side blowhole fan may be a good thing to look for in a new case.

But of course if you're a real tweaker you simply bypass Overdrive and OC the card yourself.

Amen to that!

My dick is so big, that my dick has a dick. And my dicks' dick is bigger than yours.

Yep, and their promised review is out today, showing that very thing, even with quicky reviewer tweaking (nowhere near involved as some people here's tweaking), they got the core to 525.

So, any chance the XTpe can overclock, or is it pushed already? Will Overdrive be an option in the drivers for them?

I have seen it OC a bit, but nothing spectacular. It isn't at it's end, but it is already pushed pretty hard. Expect under 550 to be the max on most (edit: without changing cooling solutions). So far the only part of the XTPE I've seen overclock 'WELL' is the memory, with double digit improvements, most cores were getting only 10-15 mhz improvements from what I've seen, which is low single digit boosts. The memory did help in some situations, but really I don't expect either the GF6800U or X800XTPE to be great overclockers, but then again these are early models, and like we saw with the R9700/9800 later chips may do better once they've perfected everything, so I really don't know what the future brings there.

You need to have wicked voodoo mojo going first. I'm sure they had a pile of fire-extinguishers at the ready first.

HIS's IceQII X800XT should be the first stock to really be able to OC well. It should also start hitting shelves in about 2 weeks (saw first, albeit AWFUL, review of it today somewhere). I wish they would make an artic silencer that wasn't as quiet...I'll take the regular (which isn't bad) noise in exchange for even more cooling anyday!

Anyway...that's why I'm moving to water in the future. it has the same noise with much better cooling (or slightly better cooling with less noise).

Maxtor disgraces the six letters that make Matrox.
