<£500 - (currently looking at <£400)

Right so im looking into getting a laptop, this is for mobile music production, I have an external sound card but any onboard quality for this would be appreciated, I would like to run games on it but I'm not often playing a lot of games on it as I am building a new pc too and would probably only play Football Manager and possibly sims3 and simcity5.


1. What is your budget? up to £400, may increase to £500 depending

2. What is the size of the notebook that you are considering? standard sized

3. What screen resolution do you want? not sure, i run ableton

4. Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop? portable, music production suite

5. How much battery life do you need? better the better

6. Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low,Medium or High)? Sims 3 Sim City 5 and Football Manager all on medium would be fine

7. What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo/Video editing, Etc.) music production, photoshop and web development

8. How much storage (Hard Drive capacity) do you need? not important, but at least 250gb

9. If you are considering specific sites to buy from, please post their links. laptopsdirect.co.uk

10. How long do you want to keep your laptop? long as possible

11. What kind of Optical drive do you need? DVD ROM/Writer,Bluray ROM/Writer,Etc ? DVDRW not need for bluray, not bothered about lightscribe

12. Please tell us about the brands that you prefer to buy from them and the brands that you don't like and explain the reasons. don't want acer as I have had one before, i was thinking hp but saw an asus one cheaper, don't know if they are good laptops

13. What country do you live in? england

14. Please tell us any additional information if needed. quad core is preferred, 6gb ram preferred too

Core i7 CPUs will push prices closer to £600
