I cant find the wierd bottleneck
Hi, i have a problem with unstable and low FPS. My brother with worse spec then i have is running the same games as i do with better and more stable FPS. Its so wierd, and i cant find out whats causing it >< can you guys help me out?

My spec:

Mobo: GIGABYTE GA-890XA-UD3
CPU: AMD Athlon II X4 640 3.0Ghz (AM3, Quad Core)
RAM: Corsair BallistiX DDR3 1333Mhz 4GB (2x2GB)
GPU: GIGABYTE Geforce GTX 460 1GB (OC)
PSU: Cooler Master GX 550W
HDD: Corsair Nova V128 128GB (SSD)


My brothers spec:

Mobo: Gigabyte GA-MA770-UD3
CPU: AMD Athlon II X2 5200+ 2.7GHz (AM2, Dual Core)
RAM: Corsair DOMINATOR DDR2 1066Mhz 4GB (2x2GB)
GPU: PowerColor Radeon HD5770 1GB
PSU: Cooler Master Real Power 550W
HDD: Samsung SpinPoint T166 250GB

Any help will be appreciated, thx!

Check your Windows power settings to make sure you are set to "High Performance". It sounds stupid, but I once spend a lot of time trying to figure out why my FPS were low, and it was just because I had switched to a lower power setting for some reason and didn't remember.

nvidia control panel, i.e. right click on desktop

control panel > manage 3d settings > program settings > add etc.

did this on bf2bc on my gtx470, AA started working properly, when from 30fps to 90+fps. and finally got to full gpu utilisation. The game was installed after the drivers, so it should have been ok, but was not.

an off the wall suggestion, make sure that the game is in the profiles from nvidia, i.e. add>navigate to game .exe

did this on bf2bc on my gtx470, AA started working properly, when from 30fps to 90+fps. and finally got to full gpu utilisation. The game was installed after the drivers, so it should have been ok, but was not.

By your system specification, i think ur pc requires more power. Your PSU is not enough (especially for ur graphics card).

swap power supplies with him see if it is any difference.

and you did disable disc defrag right ?.... and indexing ?? You need to read up on care for your drive. They are different than regular HD's.
