I want to overclock my xfx radeon hd 7850 2gb.
Firstly should I do it through my asus bios or is there a program i should use instead?
I want to be able to raise the voltage on it.
I have been using CCC and set it at 1050 core, and 1400 memory, but i think i can do better.
I dont think rivatuner is compatible, and cant seem to find a good program to raise the voltage.
I would prefer to do it through my bios (asus sabertooth MB)
thanks. let me know if there is any more information you would need to know.

Test your card how far it can go at 1.218v with fan running at 100% and power limit to 20‰.
Test the stability using heaven 4.0 at max settings.
Once your overclock has passed heaven, stay decreasing the voltage and find the lowest voltage your overclock can run at. Again by running heaven.
And when you found. What the best oc and voltage for your card is, that's the time to adjust and lower the fan speed. I recommend creating fan profile.

no the far i have tried is 1110 and 1250 at 1.190v and is stable but hot ... i will try this later, im now testing it via CCC in 1000/1250 power at 20% no voltages increase and never have seen the 75c ... FarCry 62 ~ 68c ... i have the one fan version so, i guest it's not designed to this kind of OC it get really hot, as hot as nvidia fermis's

im using this OC 1110/1250 at 1.1750 V ... i saw a thred in other forum with this :
According to Alexey Nikolaichuk (the author of RivaTuner and MSI Afterburner), the correlation between voltage and quality is like follows:
ASIC quality < 75% - 1.1750 V;
ASIC quality < 80% - 1.1125 V;
ASIC quality < 85% - 1.0500 V;
ASIC quality < 90% - 1.0250 V;
ASIC quality ≤ 100% - 1.0250 V
my xfx is the 1GB version and at 1300Mhz is very stable, but temp goes to a dangerous top ... about 75 ~ 81C ... so i went back to 1250 ... playing farcry at ultra temp never goes beyond 68 ~ 70c ...

I see. Sorry to hear about your memory. Looks like you got a lower quality elipda memory and not the hynix ones. But dont worry about it. Just leave it at 1250 for it will not make any difference at all as long as you don't do crossfire. The 1250 memory bandwidth is more than enough for a single 7850 even for a 7950.

That means your cards chip quality is better than mine. The cards have has a 74.2% and it's only capable of reaching 1140 core at 1.218v. Since your card have a higher quality, try putting the core at 1150 ~ 1175 using 1.218v and raise the power limit to 15%. By the way, one of the best program to check your overclock is heaven 4.0. Try it and tell me how it goes.
