Afterglow Xbox 360 Controller stopped working
I have an Afterglow Xbox 360 controller that I use on my pc. I bought it and when I plugged it in my Windows 8.1 pc recognized it and installed the drivers. It worked perfectly. Now fast forward five months and when I plugged it into my laptop it wasn't recognized. Now when I plug it into any pc it's not recognized. I've tried downloading the 360 drivers from microsoft and that didn't work. When I plug it in the lights come on for a second and then they all go out. When it was working and I plugged it in the lights would flash but the green light for player 1 around the home button would stay on, it doesn't any more. Any help would be very much appreciated. Can I fix this or do I need to just buy a new one?

Well i just had this problem today, and it was not the controller. The part were the controller's wire connects to the usb slot was slightly disconnected (and i mean slightly like barley noticeable) this is just what happened with me. I had the same problem with the one flash and ect. But im just looking out .(:

Ok, so after reading this post I was a little unhappy as I have one of these controllers and I have Windows 8.1.

However, low and behold I managed to get it working. Here's what I did.

I downloaded the XBox 360 driver pack for Windows 7 (Yes, I am quite aware I have Windows 8.1) : http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/en-gb/d/xbox-360-cont...
I installed the driver pack and connected the controller. Device manager advised that there was NO driver for the After Glow Controller. Trying to go through the Manual Driver update is fruitless and just hangs device manager.

Here's what I did next.

Leaving the controller connected to the USB port, I rebooted the machine. As the machine booted up, the driver was installed and all was good. If you go to Devices and Printers, the controller shows up as an AfterGlow Gamepad for XBox 360. To test, I removed the controller and re inserted it, still good. I unplugged the controller and shut the machine down. Started it back up and logged in, then plugged the controller in, and it's still working.

So, Technically incompatible or Programatically blocked by M$ ? You decide.

Hope this helps.

I just ended up buying a new controller. I plugged it in and it works fine. So the problem wasn't my computer. I plugged that afterglow into four different computers and it didn't work once. I tried taking it apart to see if the connect inside had come loose somehow but they were so tightly screwed in I ended up stripping the screw heads, so those screws aren't coming out. Thank you for your help anyways getochkn. I really appreciate it.
