Lag when accessing storage
I have 2 x 2T WD in RAID 1 for my storage. Occasionally when i want to access any folder, there is delay for about 3-4 sec. Not sure why. I heard when they are idle for a bit that is what happens. Is that true ? Can i change that ?

In the Advanced Settings for whatever power plan your computer is set to in Windows, you should have an option to set how long the hard drives have to be idle before they are powered down. Just set that to "Never", or to a longer amount of time if you prefer.

Assuming your RAID array is not your system drive, the drives in the array are probably sitting idle long enough to power down. The few seconds of lag is the time it takes for the spindle inside to reach operating speed and be ready to access. During this lag time, can you hear a slight whine?
