Need Help: SLI / Crossfire support. ASUS M5A97 R2.0 and MSI GTX 760
This is in regards to the motherboard only being able to CrossFire and the GPU only being able to SLI. From what I understand the Mobo and the GPU are compatible. Does this just mean that I won't be able to combine two GPUs together if one of them is the gtx 760? If anyone could give me a better understanding of it I'd be appreciative.

Side note: I'm not planning on taking advantage of SLI or CrossFire at the moment. This is my first build and I am budgeting to a certain extent. However, that does not mean I won't do this in the future.

Any enlightenment is appreciated.

SLI=Crossfire, the first one is Nvidia's version and the latter is the AMD equivalent, they just have different names and a few minor differences, but the basic idea is the same. If a motherboard is only crossfire compatible, that means you can only run AMD cards in crossfire, not Nvidia cards in SLI.

In your case, you would be able to run two GPUs only if they were AMD GPUs. If you want to run two Nvidia cards (SLI), you'll need a 990x/990fx motherboard, like the one I have.
