Extremely low FPS with capable GPU and modest specs
Hi guys, im getting very low fps on games like Battlefield 4 it's incredibly annoying considering my previous GPU had way way way better results (40 fps on high)but with my new GTX 8800 im getting extremely unplayable fps on ultra and on low (20-30 fps on low, 10-15 on ultra) im playing at 1920x1080
I have the latest drivers and I have reinstalled windows.
I had hoped for at least a 60% increase in frame-rates but im getting much lower frame rate in pretty much every game.
CPU:Intel C2D E7500
RAM:6 GB

Bigger numbers isnt always better, the GTX 8800 is 8 years old while the Ti is only 2 years old and lightyears ahead of the 8800 in terms of technology.

That being said, the C2D E7500 is going to hold back the rest of your system in a big way.

agree with him. sounds like according to your original post u went from a 650 to a 8800 which is going backwards. as he said the 650 is the one u should be using and not the 8800

Nvidia got into the consumer graphic card market with their 5000 and 6000 series back in 2003 and 2004. The number scheme progressed through 7000,8000(like your GTX) and then 9000 series. It was then they refreshed the name scheme with the 100 and 200 series and that name scheme progressed through 3,4,5 and 600 where your 650ti is

As of today the latest Nvidia cards are in the 700 series.

Edit: yes the i5 is much much better than the c2d

Oh? so the i5 2500k is better than the c2d?

Btw i dont really get the way of naming cards 8800 should be like 40x better than the GTX 650...

Okay your problem is your trying to run modern games on a 5 year old low end CPU and ancient GPU. Per Intel
http://ark.intel.com/products/36503/intel-core2-duo-pro...

Status End of Life
Launch Date Q1'09

If you want to play those and other games you need a modern computer, and one capable with a decent GPU for those titles, which STARTS at $700. I would suggest a i5 Based PC. If you doubt any of this, go to www.canirunit.com and you can see for your self what the specs are for each game you want to play. Honestly DO NOT GO Minimum, this means the 'game turns on' NOT that it is PLAYABLE like "I see in those youtube videos". That level of 'normal expected' game play is the RECOMMENDED level listed hardware/ setup.

I have basically everything turned off in windows.
I was expecting a major improvement :|

I'd say that the old 8800GTX and C2D is doing its best @ 1080p. What card did you have before?

Have you cleaned the system recently with something like CCleaner? https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner
Did you uninstall the previous driver before installing the new one? You may want to uninstall the gfx driver again and run Driver Sweeper to remove any remnants of old code in the registry. http://www.techspot.com/downloads/4266-driver-sweeper.h...
Also, check your tray to see how much stuff you have running in the background when Win7 starts. They all steal resources.
