Crossfire and second PSU
Greetings forum,

This is my first thread. I was just a reader and I have found everything I need up to this point, thus I decided to ask you personally.

My rig is morally old, but suits me well. I came across a deal for a PowerColor 4890 dirty cheap. My PSU is 550W and is on the safe range for my specs, but on the borderline.

So, my question is, can I use a second PSU for thaat second 4890 in crossfire(add2psu, the other more "simple" adapter with the green wire)? The thing is the second 4890 will still draw about 75W from the MB and I was wondering if it would be too much for the main PSU.

I dont plan on buying better main PSU or upgrading to newer graphics card! I just want to know if CF is doable in my case!

Thanks in advance!

Yeah, I was thinking about that too. Guess its the most logical thing to do. Thanks!

just run both cards off the second supply hence unloading the main supply to allow for the second card to pull it's extra 75W from the board.
