GPU not getting enough power?
I made a discover today and found out the culprit to the low fps I was experiencing and found out it was due to a settings in my bios called "Intel speed step technology" and when it is disabled the system runs at the default clock at all times (3.4Ghz - 3.7ghz). When it is enabled the system ranges from 800Mhz to 3700Mhz. What I found was when it is disabled I get lower fps in games. I feel that my cpu hogs up all of the power when it is set to 3.4Ghz all the time, and my gpu does not get enough. Here is the difference in novabench:

Setting Off: (at 3.4Ghz)

Setting On: (at Range)

Note the difference in gpu scores

intel i5 4670k
msi gtx 770 twin frozr oc
corsair vengence 8gb at 1600Mhz
Antec HCG 750W (my system should be able to run with about a 500W psu)

With my psu I am connecting the power supply to the graphics card at the V1 PCIe port on the power supply, and I am using one of the special cords that comes with the psu which has two 8 pin PCIe connectors (Only one connector into the PSU, two connectors into the graphics card), and they are both attached to the two 8 pin slots on the graphics card.

You said my graphics card would be OK but you didn't tell me that the power supply gives a combined amperage of 62Amps. You made it sound like the psu only had 40 Amps but I would be OK to run it on 40 Amps.[/quotemsg]

Agree!

Would it be too late to return it to the store?

Try the store. Most retailers have a 30-day return period.

Can you please take a look at this: One guy says I'm fine with the power supply since it has 2 - 40Amp 12V Rails

I told you this in my first reply.

Your PSU is not up to the task for the GTX 770, you need a single 12v rail with 42A to power it. Your PSU only has 40A. Don't try to plug it in or you may damage your card, you need to get a new PSU with more than 42A on 12v rail.

Actually, check the power supply again, it has two single - 12v 40Amp rails meaning I have a total current of 62 Amps, not 40, so I have more then enough to power the graphics card.

Seriously, I've already been using the card for about a month!
