Need help overclockin Gibayte HD 7970
Hey guys, I a little bit desperate right now. A few days ago I bought a used never overclocked Gigabyte HD 7970 from a friend of mine. I started tweaking things via Catalyst Control Center, but I can't make the GPU go pass 1050MHZ.

Everytime I push her a little higher, my drivers crash. Im not sure if it is my PSU o my MOBO.

Here's my specs:
i5 3570k 3.4 ghz (not overclocked)
Gigabyte HD 7970 3GB DDR5
16GB Patriot DDR3
Asus mobo P8b75m-le
PSU: Cooler Master Extreme Power Plus 600w.

So what do you say? just bad luck with the GPU chip, or there is something wrong with my hardware.

BTW I tried with Catalyst 14.6 Beta driver and with MSI AfterBurner.

Another thing that I dont understand is why I can benchmark perferctly with 1.100 MHZ using FurMark3D, but when playing my drivers crash.

The problem is that I have a Gigabyte HD 7970 OC version. It's voltage locked and either Catalyst nor MSI Afterburner will let me to tweak voltage settings. However I've seen many reviews in the web where people would get 1200+MHz without messing the voltage, since its locked. I just don't understand why mine wont get to 1.100MHZ at least.

I've tried everything, but when I change to 1.050 or more, my drivers simply crash inmediatly when starting a game.

Any ideas?
Thanks for the response bro :) .

Its logical. I had this too. Furmark is stable but it crashes in games. Just bump up the voltage (core voltage since you overclocked the core) by 25mV and keep adding 25 mV till its stable..
