Sapphire TRI-X R9 290 , BSOD ?
I bought a Sapphire TRI-X R9 290 yesterday. Wanted to benchmark , so i fired up GPU CAP Wiever . Even before i start the tests, while changing the tabs on GPU CAP , i got a BSOD . error message indicates that it is the Graphics card.

Restarted, ran Heaven Benchmark for 2 hours straight , no problem. GPU temperature is fine.

Using it for a day, and no other problem so far.

But as far as i know, BSOD in Windows 8 is very very rare, and mostly indicates a hardware problem.

Should i be worried? What extra tests shall i run?

I used the computer for two more days, browsing the internet, streaming video, watching movies. No problem . Played Bioshock infinite for an hour. Again no problem.

it seems it was an GPU-CAPS problem. Still , an application can cause a BSOD is weird.
I tought BSOD days are long gone , unless you have an faulty hardware. With my old computer , -I used it for 5 years- and never got a BSOD.

Yea I would say it was GPU-CAPS, never heard of it myself, ive been on the forums on my older account for 4 years now (ancient) and I think I would have heard of this software by now if it was good. try GPU-Z speedfan or ask on the forums here for the best gpu/cpu monitering software.

Yes. BSOD information was refering to ATI drivers. Now that i checked, it must be this error "SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED".

There is a minidump file , but im not sure , the last minidumb file maybe lost , i had to turn the system off , since it didnt restarted by itself .

This is the application im talking about.

Well, this scenario in my opinion was just caused by the software, if you ran the heaven benchmark tool for 2 hours then that suggests the gpu is fine but is affected in a bad way by GPU CAP, I wouldnt use that site again until your SURE that the gpu is not faulty, do you have the BSOD information by chance ?

Does anyone has experience with GPU CAP Wiever? is it normal for an application to cause a BSOD?
