At the level of performance that a GTX 770 and R9 280X are at, 2-3GB on the VRAM is already enough for 1080p or 1440p.
4GB GTX 770 is mostly a waste of money on its own. For SLI GTX 770 4GB is acceptable.

If you like the Physx on Nvidia side then go for the GTX 770 else go for whichever is the cheapest or the one you like best aesthetically.

Hi,

while the R9 280X is the better out of the two because of more Vram (they are almost equal in performance), there is a MSI GTX 770 4 GB edition which also has the Twin Frozr cooling.
If i would be you i would buy the GTX 770 4 GB becouse it will be more future proof becouse of more video memory.

http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-2207167/timer-... Look at the first comment on this thread investigate some more i dont want to convice or something but i personaly whould allways go with Nvidia GPU dont know why not a fan boy i really like PhysX and everything Nvidia haves on GPU

Nvidia for GPU and AMD for CPU is a win situation (for me) :)

R9 280X is the better buy. The 770 and it are equal in performance so there is no good reason to pay the extra. Plus, depending on your resolution and what options you want to use, the extra GB of memory could be a benefit.
