My hard drive storage is filling up on its own.
Please help me guys.

I am using Windows 8 and my hard drive is SSD.
So what happened is last night I am very sure that I still have a lot of storage space but then a notification keeps popping out that says "Low Disk Space.. " so I check it out and found that I only have 324kbs of Disk space.

I suspected that it was a virus or something so I ran a scan on Avast! and it says its clean. (I ran it a few times more to be sure still nothing)

So I downloaded Malwarebytes and says no malware detected but showed some potential malwares and they are OpenCandy.

I downloaded WinDirStat and it shows that WinSxS is taking up 10.3GB.

I also noticed something cause I am using large icons and usually it shows images of what are the contents in a folder. But now it only shows the folder and the it looks empty until you open it. The same thing happened to the music cause usually it shows the album cover but now its gone.

Windirstat after cc cleaner

After I ran the laptop as administrator there are no changes in windirstat however when I came back to my own account this happened

It's decreasing real fast though

Help will be appreciated thanks a lot

Check the resource monitor's disk tab and see which process is doing all the writing. That should at least help narrow down the problem.

Hi I did cc cleaner and tune up and it freed about 1.5gb i dont think this is my problem though cause my storage decreases every 5 minutes or so and it sometimes fluctuatesm it increases then decreases but it decreases a lot more thats why its running out of storage

Maybe it was a windows update. They save periodic system backups than can be from 500mb to 10gb of space. You should try:

TuneUp Utilities: Free Trial, After installation, run one click maintenance and go to clean up hard disk and get rid of old backups.

Ccleaner: Free, Gets rid of old log files and big cookies.
