Dedicated Memory of Graphic Card
I recently bought HP Pavilion 15-N259TX Notebook (4th Gen Ci3/ 4GB/ 500GB/ Win8.1/ 2GB Graph). I wanted to play gta4 but couldn't as it says that i don't have enough memory which is required to play the game, when i checked in dxdiag, it shows Intel HD Graphics with Tot Mem:1792MB in 'Display' tab and Radeon HD 8670M with Tot Mem:3836MB in 'Render' tab.
why two tabs?

Although in 'Hardware and Sound' tab in control panel, only Intel(R) HD graphics is shown and nothing about Radeon, but when i checked online whether my Graphic card can run the game it shows just fine. I looked here:
http://www.notebookcheck.net/Computer-Games-on-Laptop-G...

Also right clicking my desktop, choosing screen resolution and then selecting 'advance setting', Intel HD Graphics Family is shown to have 'Total available Graphics Memory:1792' and 'Dedicated Video Memory:0Mb'. Where is my AMD Radeon HD 8670M which is listed in the laptop?

Also, does my laptop even has the given graphic card which it says it has on the cover?
and if yes then why i am unable to play gta4 when i should be able to?

I am a novice in such matter so please be detailed while answering, Thank you in advance.

The above poster is correct. Use AC power, but also the laptop switches between the 2 cards depending on what the PC is currently demanding. If you are just web browsing or on the desktop, the integrated Intel graphics kick in to save power...when using intensive applications like games, the PC should automatically switch to using the radeon. Wait til your in game, like actually running the game and not just in the title screen and youll see it switch to the discreet graphics card. Ignore the gta 4 "ram meter" thing and try just playing the game and see how it performs. You can also try using a monitoring program like msi afterburner(or whatever the AMD equivalent is) and see how your card is running in game. There is a was to disable this downthrottling, but its not recommened.

Was your notebook running on battery power?

From what I've read on the 'Net, newer notebooks which have both an integrated graphics card (slower & uses less power) and a discrete graphics card (faster & uses more power) automatically switch between the two depending upon whether the notebook is being powered by its battery or its AC adaptor/charger.

The HP Pavilion 15 Notebook PC HP Pavilion TouchSmart 15 Notebook PC - Maintenance and Service Guide in particular should allow you to learn more about your new notebook.

Bro I'm having the same problem. In DXDIAG it shows another tab called RENDER. There my graphics card is shown. How can I add it to my main video memory? If anyone has any answer please reply.

Change over to pcie graphics in bios. Read the laptop manual.

i already tried to do so but in bios settings, there is no such options :??:  i was looking for some advance settings/features or graphic/video settings but there was only limited settings which didn't have any such options. Is there any other way to load bios settings with the graphic chip settings??

AMD Radeon HD8670M is the discrete graphics.

If you have an Intel cpu, it will have Intel HD graphics incorporated into it and that will have the 2gb ram allocated to it.

i have intel core i3 1.7GHz processor, and the AMD Catalyst software also is showing two Graphic cards.Have a look-

From what you've said, your laptop has integrated graphics with 2gb ram allocated to it. Its either Radeon HD8670m or Intel HD???? depending on your cpu.

Every site online says that my laptop has AMD Radeon HD8670M graphic card with 'Dedicated' 2GB, but my laptop shows 2GB shared of Intel HD Graphic Card, but AMD Radeon IS shown too albiet in dxdiag under 'Render' tab, i am confused about this 'Render' tab too as well as that why no dedicated memory is shown?
