Data storage duration on Hard Disk Drive
I have a Seagate 160 GB HDD running for 6 years. I daily scan for viruses in it. Obviously, it remains virus free. I have lots of movies, software and games downloaded from websites or transferred from other USB storage devices. How long can I keep the stored data on HDD, other than if the HDD does not create any problem, or the HDD gets damaged or faulty?
Also, I have noticed that the red LED to detect HDD does not blink at all since last few days, but the HDD is working in case of data transfer or other HDD operations. Is this any problem?

I dont believe the data will degrade other than physical or hdd failure.
The data is stored in binary as little pockets on the disk itself, these shouldnt ever disappear to my knowledge.
