Hey storage crowd, I'm planning on adding a 128GB Crucial MX100 to my machine, and wondered if my CPU would get in the way. I'm a super light user, so my Pentium G3220 (2 cores @ 3.0GHz) and H81 motherboard serve me fine. I use a 1TB 7200RPM Western Digital HDD, and have one SATA III port and two SATA II ports open. I don't plan on adding any more drives to this computer. Would this configuration bottleneck the rated 550MB/s read speed? Thanks.

The sata 6gbs would be the first thing to bottleneck an ssd before the operating system does and finally Hardware(motherboard, cpu, ram etc). The cpu should be just fine.
Great, thanks! I like the Crucial drive for its endurance and lower price point, but keep wondering if I should pick a more performant drive in the capacity range. Since I don't work with large files, I'll be using this drive as a pure performance part, and don't mind spending a bit extra for better speed. Really high-end drives like the 850 Pro and PCI-based drives are out of reach, but if I were to choose an M550 or 840 EVO, would that be worth it?
If I were to choose from these two drive, I would go for the 840 EVO. It has a higher consistent performance over the M550 and it includes a very good software suite, which help if you're migrating from an hdd to ssd, and it has a nifty feature called "rapid mode"(RAM-caching software) which is a nice extra.
