Okay, so I have this problem when watching movies online such as netflix or megashare where the bottom half on the screen tears on my Vizio TV. My pc is connected to the TV via hdmi and the refresh rate of the tv is 120 hz while the refresh rate of my hp monitor is 60 hz. I don't know if the refresh rate has anything to do with my problem but I thought I might just put that out there. My pc specs are: cpu: intel 4790k gpu: hd 7870 ghz edition mobo: asus z97 extreme 4. I really don't think that my other components are gonna matter so I won't add them unless someone specifically asks for them. Thank you in advance

It's actually more along the lines of fragmentation than screen tearing in this situation. Unlike DVD and Blue-Ray players that are designed to work with TV's video control scheme, Desktop GPU's are designed to output as much as possible and it does not send that information to the TV or monitor. While I'm not familiar with that GPU, many offer controls in their config ui's (catylist for that GPU) to set a maximum framerate, try setting it to 30 and 120 and see if that solves the problem.

I also saw screen tearing onetime( i dont watch much movies )while watching movie online. I just streched video to fit screw and fixed it. Btw nothing is wrong with hardware. It can also be your low internet speed. If this is happening specifically on your tv and not monitor try using dvi or vga. Hope i helped u
